Couch to 5K!
First...seriously...why didn't any of you tell me yesterday was definitely not Wednesday?
Anywho...
When I first had surgery, I made a goal of running a 5K. I didn't say by when or anything, just that I'd like to do that someday. Truth is, since surgery, I haven't pushed myself physically like I should. I have worked out but I haven't worked TOWARD any specific goal.
So Monday, my friend Patrice asked if I wanted to run a 5K with her on July 26. I reluctantly agreed. July 26 is far enough away that I think I can do it.
Sooooo...on July 26, 2013, I will be running the Electric Run in Charlotte, NC!!
Luckily, I also happened to find a meetup group in my area that begins next MONDAY! Perfect timing. It is an 8 week couch to 5K group, and hopefully they mean that very literally. I'm definitely not a runner, although I do walk a lot with my dog. So cross your fingers for me! Hopefully this C25K group can get me ready for the run in July!
Good luck! You will do great! I have been doing the C25K on my own and am on week 6, it's actually a pretty cool thing! I never thought I would be able to do it, but I am. I've never been a runner.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! This 5k looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteThat 5K looks awesome! I've been doing an Ease into 5K program. I'm on week 7 (even though I've been at it for about 6 months) I repeated a lot of weeks, and took a month off. It's amazing how much easier it's gotten since the beginning. I'm sure you'll do great, have fun!
ReplyDeleteI did the couch to 5K! It was a good way to start running. It took me personally longer than the 8 weeks to run the whole thing without walking. I started the program before surgery then had to back down and re-do certain weeks, so it just took me longer in my journey.
ReplyDeleteHahahah! I meant to say something about the Wednesday thing but totally forgot!
ReplyDeleteThat run looks super fun!!
I use the couch 2 5K app and also just do my own thing (like when I'm walking the dogs or whatnot).
It's awesome to have a goal!!
Keep it up!!
